The G-suite consists of many tools used in work settings that increase productivity, communication, and organization. Across Google Calendar, Slides, Docs, Mail, and more, there are many hacks that will allow for a smoother time at your internship. Read below to learn something new that can improve your experience!

  • When you accidentally type a series of words in CAPS LOCK. You can click shift+f3 to go to lowercase, highlight the words, go to the help tab, over and over the search, and then search lowercase and click the lowercase option.
  • When you want to paste things but they get all wonky when you try to transfer between documents, instead of using command+v to paste, use command+shift+v to maintain the form!
  • If you feel you can not retain a lot of information or need to write a lot of words, use Google Voice Type and speak into the mic, as Google transcribes what you say.
  • Do not underestimate the effectiveness of Google Drawings! If you ever have to create a visual in your internships, you can create graphs from data using Excel or make simple visuals using the Google Drawing feature and utilizing the shapes and lines!
  • If you are presenting to a manager, you can answer their questions instantly! Through Slides, you can generate a link to share with your audience. With that, they can view the slide and enter questions, and you can answer them instantly.
  • Merge your calendars! As a high school student, you have school stuff, extracurriculars, and an internship. To ensure you're not double booked, you can merge all your calendars in one, even if they have different emails.
  • If you ever need to find something specific, you can reverse-search the image! This can be helpful in social media roles or any journalist roles where you upload images but want to ensure they are royalty-free!
  • You can use a Google form and merge it with Google Docs to make several copies of the same document with varying information. This is useful for applications of any sort or for sorting client information!
  • If you only want somebody to access a document of yours for a short time, you can go to the share settings and set an expiration date by clicking "Access Expires."
  • You can create emails as events and merge them to your Google calendar by clicking "Create Event" in the Gmail settings! You can make them to-do items or notes.
  • If you are not quite ready to respond to an email and want to take some time to sort out an answer and make sure you get back to the sender, sometimes it can be forgotten in your memory. The Gmail "snooze" button will allow this email to be re-sent to you if it's your first time seeing it, so you can ensure no email escapes you!
  • If you make an oopsie in an email and want to ensure it gets upset, you can click on the settings icon, then more advanced settings, where you will see an undo option!
