Role Description (expected tasks, projects, responsibilities, etc.)

Conduct sector-specific mapping and identify relevant tech startups from around Africa
Conduct market research to understand the startup’s technology and assess potential digital harms and safety risks
Develop harm models and safety risk assessments tailored to the product or platform being studied
Network with founders and key executives of the startups
Conduct structured interviews to gauge their knowledge of trust and safety, internal frameworks, and current safety practices
Contribute to reports and recommendations that support proactive integration of trust and safety into their operations
Participate in monthly knowledge-sharing sessions with fellow interns and Trusted Tech mentors

Application Requirements

Strong interest in technology, ethics, and online safety
Good research and writing skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Students or early-career professionals in tech, policy, law, or related fields are encouraged to apply

Familiarity with particular software programs, languages spoken, etc.

Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
English fluency required; French or Portuguese is a plus
Familiarity with online research tools and platforms (e.g., Crunchbase, LinkedIn)
