The Undivide Project is a nonprofit tackling the intersection of climate justice and the digital divide. Our SEED (Sustainability & Equity Environmental Dashboard) tracks billions of dollars in public and private funding, while the Ten States Project maps climate‑risk and broadband inequity across the U.S. South.
Internship Snapshot
Dates June 9 – August 15, 2025
Time commitment ~10–15 hrs/week, flexible around summer activities

Eligibility Rising high‑school juniors/seniors accepted to Empowerly’s Summer Internship Program
Compensation Unpaid — we will support academic or service‑learning credit through your school
What You’ll Do:
- Clean, organize, and analyze environmental‑justice datasets for the SEED dashboard (Python / pandas).
- Build interactive visualizations and maps (Plotly, Tableau, or ArcGIS Online) spotlighting digital‑divide and climate‑risk hotspots for the Ten States Project.
- Contribute code to our GitHub repository, following best‑practice documentation.
- Present progress in biweekly stand‑ups; transform findings into social‑media infographics.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of policy analysts, GIS specialists, and UX designers—and receive one‑to‑one mentorship from our data‑science lead.
What We’re Looking For
- Working knowledge of Python (intro coursework, AP CS, or self‑taught).
- Coursework or strong interest in statistics, data science, or GIS.
- Eye for design and storytelling with data; any visualization tool experience is a plus.
- Curiosity about climate justice, sustainability, or community development.
- Clear communication skills and comfort working independently in a remote setting.
