About Youth Fishing League
Youth Fishing League brings kids and families together through fishing, outdoor learning, and shared community experiences. In 2026 we are running seven events across the DC/Maryland region with 600+ participants expected across the season, including our Lake Halcyon July debut, our flagship Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary event in June, and the Anacostia RiverFest activation in May.
Role Description
The Youth Storyteller & Peer Engagement Intern will help Youth Fishing League tell our story in an authentic teen voice. This role is built for a student who wants to write, create short-form content, and help connect other young people to fishing and outdoor experiences.
You will draft blog posts, contribute social media concepts that sound like a high schooler actually made them, and help build content for our Maurice Frye Reading Corner and Girls Cast cohort.
Responsibilities
- Draft short blog posts and event recaps in a first-person teen voice
- Contribute TikTok and Instagram Reels concepts for upcoming events
- Help build content for the Maurice Frye Reading Corner book and resource series
- Draft posts for the Girls Cast girls fishing cohort
- Suggest peer-to-peer interview questions for other young anglers
- Help review captions and copy to make sure they sound natural to a teen audience
- Contribute ideas for how to reach more middle and high school students in Montgomery County

Preferred Skills

- Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube as a creator or active user
- Interest in fishing, outdoors, environmental work, youth programs, or storytelling
- Comfortable with Google Docs and basic Canva
- Organized and able to meet small weekly deadlines
