Description
Youth Fishing League is looking for a Community Partnerships & Volunteer Recruitment Intern to help us find and organize potential volunteers, fishing mentors, community partners, and Bay-to-Table program partners.
This role is ideal for a student interested in community outreach, nonprofits, events, fishing, food, sustainability, outdoor education, or partnership-building.
Youth Fishing League runs youth and family fishing events across the DC/Maryland region. We need help identifying anglers, fishing clubs, outdoor organizations, chefs, seafood partners, grilling instructors, restaurants, food markets, schools, camps, community groups, and other partners who can support our programs.
The intern will help research potential partners, organize contact lists, draft outreach messages, and prepare partnership summaries for Youth Fishing League leadership to review.
Responsibilities
- Research local anglers, fishing clubs, fishing instructors, fishing teams, and outdoor groups that may want to volunteer
- Build a volunteer recruitment tracker with contact names, organizations, locations, websites, emails, and notes
- Identify potential fishing mentors for youth events
- Research groups such as bass clubs, fly fishing clubs, catfish anglers, kayak fishing groups, tackle shops, conservation groups, college fishing teams, and outdoor recreation organizations
- Help draft outreach messages inviting anglers to volunteer at Youth Fishing League events
- Research chefs, seafood restaurants, caterers, grilling instructors, fish markets, culinary schools, and food partners who may be interested in fish or seafood grilling demonstrations
- Help identify Bay-to-Table partners who can support cooking demos, blue catfish education, sustainable seafood, or family food education
- Research community partners such as schools, camps, churches, HOAs, scout groups, parks departments, companies, and family organizations
- Build private event and partnership lead lists
- Draft partner outreach emails for adult review
- Prepare short weekly summaries of the best volunteer and partner opportunities
- Help create simple partner profiles explaining why each organization or person may be a good fit
