QuantZero is seeking an Applied AI & Cybersecurity Engineering Intern to support the development of AI-enabled cybersecurity, Zero Trust, and risk intelligence capabilities. This internship is designed for an undergraduate or graduate student with strong technical curiosity, disciplined engineering habits, and interest in building secure, mission-aware software systems.
The intern will support research, prototyping, documentation, and implementation across QuantZero’s AI-driven cybersecurity platform. Work may include developing Python-based tools, assisting with AI/ML model experimentation, supporting data preprocessing, building small automation scripts, testing API integrations, and helping improve platform workflows related to risk scoring, trust graphs, compliance evidence, and security decision support.
Candidates should have a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, including machine learning, model training, data labeling, feature extraction, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and responsible AI practices. Prior coursework or project experience with Python, AI/ML libraries, data analysis, or cybersecurity automation is preferred.
The ideal candidate should also understand risk-based cybersecurity fundamentals, including threat modeling, vulnerability management, identity and access control, Zero Trust principles, NIST Cybersecurity Framework concepts, RMF basics, security monitoring, and risk prioritization. Experience with Apache web servers, Linux environments, basic networking, web application architecture, server configuration, logging, and secure deployment practices is highly valuable.
Responsibilities may include assisting with AI/ML prototype development, evaluating model outputs, supporting cybersecurity data pipelines, documenting technical findings, testing platform features, researching emerging cyber risks, and helping translate security requirements into practical engineering tasks. The intern may also contribute to internal technical documentation, proposal support, product demonstrations, and prototype validation efforts.
This role is best suited for a student who wants hands-on experience at the intersection of AI, cybersecurity, software engineering, compliance, and defense-oriented technology development. QuantZero values candidates who can learn quickly, communicate clearly, work independently, and approach engineering problems with attention to security, reliability, and mission impact.
