Lift and Shift Foundation is seeking motivated and creative high school students to join our Web Design & Digital Product team through an unpaid, project-based internship experience. This role offers hands-on experience in web design and development, allowing interns to contribute to the design and development of real tools and platforms that advance our mission of making STEM more accessible and inclusive.
This listing is for the 10-week summer June–August cohort, where you will improve games.weliftandshift.org by connecting the platform to our user accounts database. The broader internship program runs in three cycles to align with regional academic institutions:
Responsibilities
- Build and improve score submission flows for the games platform.
- Add or refine leaderboard views, personal bests, and player stats.
- Connect game pages to the existing Supabase data model for authenticated score saving.
- Handle empty states, error states, and basic validation so users get clear feedback.
- Test score and leaderboard features across desktop and mobile browsers.
Required Skills and Qualities
- Creative Thinking: Ability to suggest practical improvements and user-friendly solutions.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, GitHub, or similar tools. Training is provided as needed.
- Collaboration: Willingness to work independently and with a team across time zones.
- Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new tools, systems, and workflows quickly.
- Organization: Ability to stay focused on a clearly scoped feature or maintenance task.
