Software Development & Documentation Volunteer
About Us:
DART Command Central (DARTCC) is developing the Emergency Animal Shelter App (EASApp™), a Progressive Web App (PWA) designed to assist volunteers in managing emergency pet shelters during disasters.
This volunteer role will support the development team by documenting new features, creating tasks in Trello, and assisting in defining workflows for key modules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend Zoom meetings with the development team to document new features and functionality in Google Docs.
- Create and manage tasks in Trello based on discussions.
- Assist in defining workflows and feature requirements for:
- Schedule Module (e.g., researching existing scheduling tools for inspiration).
- Contact Module (e.g., identifying best practices for managing volunteer contacts).
- Research and collect examples of existing solutions/tools that could enhance development.
- Document integration requirements for partnerships, such as Petco Love and Shelterly.
- Attend training sessions, take notes on feature requests or issues, and translate them into actionable tasks.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in Google Docs for documentation.
- Access to at least one mobile device (iOS or Android) for UI testing.
- Experience with Trello (preferred but not required).
- Strong analytical and research skills (experience evaluating software requirements is a plus).
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
Application Requirements:

- Any writing samples related to research or process documentation.
- UI or workflow examples (if available).
- "How-To" instructional videos (if applicable).
Additional Details:
- Location: Remote (via Zoom & Google Docs).
- Compensation: Unpaid (Volunteer Role).
- Time Commitment: 15-20 hours per week.
