About the Organization
The Live Music Project (LMP) connects people with live classical and contemporary music experiences by making concert information easy to find, explore, and understand. We believe that access to the arts begins with access to information, and we work to make that information clear, equitable, and useful for all audiences.
Position Overview
The Technical Writing Intern will create a series of short, public-facing guides that help users better understand and navigate the Live Music Project Concert Calendar.
This is an ideal role for a student interested in writing, communication, UX, or arts technology. The intern will translate a real digital platform into clear, engaging instructions for a broad audience—no prior technical background required.
What You’ll Do
- Write and publish a weekly blog post (on Medium or similar platform) as part of a series titled “How to Use the Live Music Project Concert Calendar”
- Break down platform features into clear, step-by-step guides (e.g. how to submit concerts to the calendar, find free concerts, explore by instrument or city)
- Create simple visuals or screenshots to support written instructions
- Edit and refine content based on feedback from the Executive Director
- Help share published guides through social media and email channels
- Contribute ideas for improving clarity and usability of LMP’s tools based on your experience as a user
Skills You’ll Build
- Technical writing and instructional design
- Audience-focused communication
- Editing and revision processes
- Digital publishing (Medium, basic social media workflows)
- Understanding how technology supports arts access and community engagement
Ideal Candidate
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Curious, detail-oriented, and able to explain things clearly
- Interested in music, the arts, or making information more accessible
- Comfortable learning new platforms and asking questions
- No coding or advanced technical experience required
Logistics
- Location: Remote
- Schedule: Flexible (approximately 5–10 hours/week)
Why This Matters
Your work will become public-facing help resources that make it easier for musicians to submit their concerts to the LMP calendar and for listeners to find and attend live classical music. Instead of information being buried or confusing, your writing will help someone say, “Oh—I get it. I know how to use LMPs tools now.”
